Roundup for 31Dec2006
Happy New Year everyone!
Happy New Year everyone!

As a teaser, I'm posting the tracks that we will add later tonight after we open gifts but before we toast in the New Year.
As always, our broadcast is located at Live365.
Our featured artists are Milkshake, Beethoven's Wig 3 and Stephen Cohen as well as Putamayo Kids music.

We've added one new, special set of tracks to commemorate the concerts we've attended this year. The girls didn't get to see Ralph Covert - Adult Show or Justin Roberts this year, but I did on my "getaway" trip to Chicago.... They did see Justin perform in Cleveland in 2005, and hopefully we will get to see him perform in 2007!
In order to stay within Live365's rules, I had to remove Farmer Jason, Buck Howdy, and Milkshake from the other sets, so the commentary may be a little confusing, but, as ScribbleMonster says, "Oh Well!"
As always, our broadcast is located at Live365.

The new set of tracks is up and streaming...again, the girls were not too chatty. I think the fact that they were itching to watch "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" had something to so with the brevity of the commentary.
As always, our broadcast is located at Live365.
Our featured artists are Milkshake, Beethoven's Wig 3 and Stephen Cohen as well as Putamayo Kids music.

Our newest featured artist is Stephen Cohen. We will be featuring songs from his album Here Comes the Band over the next week or two.

We seem to have fixed the microphone problems. The girls were not feeling extra chatty today, so not much talk, but there is a little. We hope you will enjoy the show!
Our featured artists are Sue Schnitzer, Ginger Hendrix, Farmer Jason, Milkshake and Beethoven's Wig 3 as well as Putamayo Kids music.
Tune in National Public Radio's "Morning Edition" on Friday, December 29th. They will debut a song by Tom Chapin & John Forster called "Not On The Test" It'll be coming out of a Larry Abramson story on school testing and will air at roughly 40 minutes past the hour. To find your local NPR station, and the time "Morning Edition" airs in your area, visit their website www.npr.org.
But I don't think you can force them to do anything or you can destroy their love for the music.

We had a few snafus today. I'm using a different computer, and it seems that I can't get the input volume high enough. Maybe tomorrow (when we won't update the station as it is so late already), I will work on it.
Our featured artists are Sue Schnitzer, Ginger Hendrix, Farmer Jason, Milkshake and Beethoven's Wig 3 as well as Putamayo Kids music.

Today we are continuing to test out a new format. We're playing a much shorter list of music, but putting in some "talk". Camille had a lot to say today, and Chloe even joined in to say some things.
Our featured artists are Sue Schnitzer, Ginger Hendrix, Farmer Jason, Milkshake and Beethoven's Wig 3 as well as Putamayo Kids music.

Ralph's World is set to kick off a tour in February that will hit eight House of Blues venues all over the US, as well as historic rock palaces like the Fillmore in San Francisco. The outing marks the first time a children's-music artist has canvassed House of Blues venues across the country, according to a press release.

Today we are continuing to test out a new format. We're playing a much shorter list of music, but putting in some "talk". While I don't expect anyone to find what I have to say to be particularly insightful, it might be interesting to listen to what excites and inspires the kids. I hope you will have patience with our little experiment.
Our featured artists are Sue Schnitzer, Ginger Hendrix, Farmer Jason, Milkshake and Beethoven's Wig 3 as well as Putamayo Kids music.

While I don't expect anyone to find what I have to say to be particularly insightful, it might be interesting to listen to what excites and inspires the kids. And we're practicing, just in case one day we get the chance to guest DJ Spare the Rock...not something to be taken too lightly. We need practice keeping the conversation moving and keeping the microphone positioned well. I hope you will have patience with our little experiment.

We've added Grammy Nominated Richard Perlmutter's Beethoven's Wig 3 to our featured artists. Great fun and great music.

Many of you also know Ralph's adult rock'n'roll with his band, The Bad Examples. Well, to our surprise and honor, they've been nominated for Best Rock Album for the 26th Annual Chicago Music Awards. The album is the kid-friendly compilation "Good Examples Of Bad Examples" which came out towards the end of last year.
You can place your vote by filling out a form at http://www.chicagomusicawards.com/sub302.htm.
my friend ida pearle, who made the beautiful cover art for "you are my little bird" is offering a limited edition print of the image from the album cover. ida also makes exquisite customized name prints, birth announcements and more. please visit idapearle.com for more information. there is still time to get one for the holidays!
The Children's Hour: Forget those insipid lullaby reworkings of Nirvana. This is a new golden era for kids' music because indie musicians realized that they could have fun, make money and stay creative playing for their kids' friends. Smart, inventive artists including the Sippy Cups, Wee Hairy Beasties, Uncle Rock, Ralph's World, Farmer Jason, Laurie Berkner and scene grandaddy Dan Zanes are treating their juvenile audience with respect, not condescension — and making music that really rocks.
Don't forget to watch Dan Zanes's Holiday Time in Brooklyn video..

Today we are playing selections from the Christmas, Winter, Weekly Favorites Themes along with new music from Thaddeus Rex, Sue Schnitzer, Ginger Hendrix, Farmer Jason and Milkshake as well as Putamayo Kids music.
Here are non-themed songs that may be heard on the show today, in no particular order.

The girls really liked listening to Bottle of Sunshine and were excited to go see Milkshake perform when Jamarama came to Atlanta. We are enjoying the music from their latest album, Play!

As usual, let me know what I've missed!
Sorry. No roundup tonight. We are decorating a gingerbread house while listening to classics such as Ernie&Neal's Christmas Rocks. Some things are just too important to miss.
Frances will begin recording her second cd in the New Year. Liam, Rowan and I have heard all of her new songs and we all agree that CD #2 will be HUGE! :)It's a long post, but I recommend reading the whole thing!
The Hipwaders are currently working on their new album. Set for release in Spring 2007, the album will contain songs that have been kid-tested and approved. Oh, and it will rock...
14Dec: Added "Little Puffer" from The Sippy Cups

Well, I guess they aren't going to be announced until tonight. I'm really curious as to who the Grammy Award Nominees will be this year. Will Justin Roberts or Dan Zanes be on the list?
Who do you think will be included in the nominees?
7Dec2006: I mistyped in the description of Stephan's contest. It is songs, not albums.
P.P.S. For those of you who own a Fisher Price Kid Tough Song and Story Player, we'd like to let you know that our Christmas album, Merry Fishes To All, will soon be available for downloading through their website. If you don't own one, it might be worth checking out for the upcoming holiday gift season. They look great. Here's the link for more information: http://www.fisher-price.com/kidtoughplayer In the search area, please type in Trout Fishing in America to find us.
Okay, a long one today. Most of the stuff, if not all, is interesting, so try to make it to the end, okay?
“The unfortunate part is we had stopped doing live shows for November and December because we thought we were going to be doing the pilot. That cut into our income because even with an advance, you’re talking about four guys and an office. It’s next to nothing when it gets down to us.”

We love spotting rainbows, painting with all the colors and swirling the playdoh (unfortunately, this seems to make all the PlayDoh in the house turn brown as we have not yet learned a trick for separating the colors).
As always, let us know of any that you like!
4Dec2006: Added "Animal Rainbow" from Joel Frankel's "Don't Sit on a Cactus"
A short list today and no photos from Lunch Money since I spent the morning out, the afternoon in ancient Rome watching gladiator fights and the evening updating the station...
"Before I played the song, I said, "This a little strange — none of your kids are here,' " Berkner said.
As always, our broadcast is located at Live365.
Today we are playing selections from the Christmas, Color, Weekly Favorites Themes along with new music from Eric Herman and The Invisible Band, Trout Fishing In America, Princess Katie and Racer Steve, Thaddeus Rex, Sue Schnitzer, and Ginger Hendrix as well as Putamayo Kids music.

We hope you will enjoy this new music from Ginger Hendrix! We've enjoyed listening to "Macaroni Boy Eats at Chez Shooby Doo" and reading her blog

4Dec2006: I've finally finished the recap complete with photos and set list.
Today's Roundup may make it up today or it may not...I'm feeling a bit tired after a wonderful roadtrip to Columbia, SC. Here is Chloe with Lunch Money, who put on a wonderful show today!
